[comp.unix.wizards] Skipping Files on Magtape

rbj@icst-cmr.arpa (Root Boy Jim) (04/21/87)

I believe the `proper' way to skip a file is to use the magtape ioctls:
`mt -f /dev/rmt4 fsf'. Obviously this will not work on systems without
   such ioctls. (So it goes.)

TPC does this by `echo Skipping Tape File < /dev/rmt0' or similar means.
