We are trying to bring up an SI QDA-4EC (SIGMA SDC-RQD11-EC)
Disk controller and at boot time the 'slave' assignment to the drive
is not made. The driver picks up the controller at 'rqd1 ... vector 770'
but the 'ra4 at rqd1 slave 0' doesn't come up and we cannot access the
drive. The onboard diagnostics (WOMBAT) find no errors.
I did a /dev/MAKEDEV ra4 (5,6,7), ra4 is major 9, minor 32.
As usual this has taken much to long and my users are starting to polish
bayonets. Any help appreciated.
mail to hurf@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu as ionvax is down.

We found the problem - the setup software in the board (and
SI's hot shot in Boston) is a little confused about what unit number means.
Yrs Trly: Have you done an Ultrix or Unix installation before?
Hot Shot: No, but I talked to somebody who did...
In all fairness SI has put a lot of effort into working the bugs out
and their local support has been superb. - I'm pleased so far.
