[comp.unix.wizards] increasing the size of a live swap partition

mkhaw@teknowledge-vaxc.ARPA (Michael Khaw) (06/25/87)

My Ultrix system has a disk with a secondary swap partition
where the disk is partitioned as follows:

	partition	size	used as
	=========	====	=======
	a		8MB	unused
	b		52MB	secondary swap
	d		375MB	filesystem for users

What happens if I shrink the "a" partition and correspondingly expand
the "b" partition while the system is in multi-user mode? Is this a
no-op until the next reboot, or does it wreak serious havoc?
