would it be possible to request new-sites to indicate in the Subject-line the company name and physical location of the new USENET-participant? Why? As many others, I want to keep track of who the new guys joining the net are, and, therefore, subscribe to net.news.newsite. However, I am on a very slow terminal (300 Baud, usually) and reading the text of all messages would be a rather time-consuming procedure to do this. And as the pertinent information often does not even appear at the beginning of the message, reading only the first few lines of the message and then skipping over the rest is not an option. An additional complication is that when using the USENET via TELNET from another machine, not on USENET, the command to skip over some text is not taking effect until after the whole incoming buffer is displayed. The subject line format I'd like to see would be similar to: Subject: site - location - organization - purpose - etc for example: Subject: doonesbury - dreamland - Gary Trudeau INC. - to help USENET through another day ...... of course, non-informative Subject-lines are what make reading USENET a pain in the butt on slow terminals, in general ..... .... and more costly in terms of overhead on fast ones ...
