>Anybody remember the Bendix G-15 (hi Doug) with 29-bit words?
Boy, talk about a name from the dim past. The Bendix G-15 was
the first computer I got my hands on. The beast was a bit larger
than a file cabinet and was packed with vacumn tubes. As I recall,
the main memory was a magnetic drum (no ferrite core memory) and
programs were written to take into account the rotation of the drum
for fetching data and/or next instruction. The machine would go
bonkers if the ambient temperature got much over 80F.
My next major experience was with an IBM 1620. I believe that was
a much better known machine.
