[comp.unix.wizards] running TCP/IP over a dialup line

mayer@rocksanne.UUCP (Jim Mayer) (08/15/87)

What is involved in running TCP/IP over a dialup (9600 baud) line? Are
the requisite drivers publicly (or commercially) available? The
systems I am concerned about are BSD 4.3, SUN 3.2, and microcomputer
System V machines.

One magic word I have heard is "SLIP" (Synchronous Line Interface Protocol),
however I don't know where the protocol is defined and whether drivers are
available.

Thank you.
