[comp.unix.wizards] Pty's for System V?

km@emory.uucp (Ken Mandelberg) (09/07/87)

Has anyone done Berkeley style pty's for System V release 2?

I am neither looking for a streams style solution or a pointer to the
Wollongong TCP/IP package.

It seems to me that pty's are a very useful construct even without
Berkeley networking, and the technology for building a pty software
device driver is nothing new.

A pty driver for Sys V was posted not too long ago to one of the
sources groups. I haven't had time to experiment with it, although it
compiled and linked into my XENIX V kernel without problems, and it "looked
right", at least. I'll be happy to mail it to you if your search comes up
empty.

I believe that SCO also distributes a PTY driver for XENIX as part of their
XENIX-NET and Multi-View (windowing on glass-ttys) products.
