Has anyone done Berkeley style pty's for System V release 2? I am neither looking for a streams style solution or a pointer to the Wollongong TCP/IP package. It seems to me that pty's are a very useful construct even without Berkeley networking, and the technology for building a pty software device driver is nothing new. -- Ken Mandelberg | gatech!emory!km USENET Emory University | km@emory CSNET,BITNET Dept of Math and CS | km.emory@csnet-relay ARPANET Atlanta, Ga 30322 | Phone: (404) 727-7963

A pty driver for Sys V was posted not too long ago to one of the sources groups. I haven't had time to experiment with it, although it compiled and linked into my XENIX V kernel without problems, and it "looked right", at least. I'll be happy to mail it to you if your search comes up empty. I believe that SCO also distributes a PTY driver for XENIX as part of their XENIX-NET and Multi-View (windowing on glass-ttys) products. -- Steve Dyer dyer@harvard.harvard.edu dyer@spdcc.COM aka {ihnp4,harvard,linus,ima,bbn,m2c}!spdcc!dyer
