[comp.unix.wizards] S on a Sun-3/160

torben@uhmanoa.UUCP (Torben N. Nielsen) (09/10/87)

Hi, I'm having some problems installing the statistical package ``S" on a
Sun-3/160. The installation almost completes, but not quite. It seems to
stop in Step 10 while doing some testing. It does generate a runnable ``RUN.S"
binary, but when you run it and exit, it dumps core.

Does anyone have ``S" running on a Sun? If so, could I have a copy of your
machine dependencies file and a copy of the ``makehead" file. Are there other
things that need to be tweaked? I suspect that the solution to my problem is
quite trivial; once you know it :-)

How about using the Sun FPA and the optimizer flags with the Fortran compiler?
Anyone ever succeed in making ``S" with those? When I throw in those two flags,
I get errors during Step 6......

Thanks in advance for any help.
