There has been a proposal to link a number of PC clones via XLAN cards (TCP/IP) to each other and to some super-minis running UNIX V.[2-3]. Are there any products on the market that take files from popular MSDOS programs, such as Wordstar, Lotus123, DBASEIII, etc. put them out through ethernet and will, if necessary, convert them on the recieving machine in a form that machine can handle (UNIX or MSDOS). Alternately, is there a UNIX office automation package with word processing, spread sheet, database, calendar/scheduling, and presentation graphics that can handle ethernet connections (one with MSDOS connectivity would be ideal). In any case, we would want a product/vendor who would handle all necessary software/hardware and initial installation. Please reply to me directly. If there is sufficient interest, I will post it to the net. Thank you. ebersman@msddnpent.arpa
