[comp.unix.wizards] C++, b-trees, relational dbs

RICHER@SUMEX-AIM.STANFORD.EDU (Mark Richer) (10/15/87)

For lack of knowledge of a better list to mail I'll start here (I'm sure
one of you unix-hackers can lead me in the right direction):

(1) I heard there is a mailing list on C++ on the net somewhere. Can anyone
give me the address of the moderator if such exists? (Remember I'm on
arpanet so please give enough info on the address so I can figure out how
to reach it from where I am, thanks).

(2) I'm interested in doing some C++ on the Macintosh using Lightspeed C.
I know Apple is working on C++ for their MPW compiler, I wanted to see
if I can find something for LS C. In Computer Language magazine, Oct. 87,
I see lots of ads for programming tools, mostly designed for DOS and some
for unix and vms. Designer C++ from Oasys (ad on p. 95) claims to be
very portable (I don't kow if they provide source though). Has anyone any
experience with this product or other C++ pre-processors (especially where
I could get full source code)?

(3) I'm also interested in getting C source for a relational database
programmer toolkit. Any available or recommended (or not)? Or at least
your favorite b-tree library with source provided. Or is there a better
list to direct this specific question?

Thanks a lot. I'll summarize responses for individuals or post to the list
if there's enough interest.

Mark
