I'm happy to see solutions to all these vi questions, especially considering all of the multiple ^V's you have to use, but the one thing that's been bothering me for quite sometime is: Is there a way to set arbitrary tabs within vi? I'd like to set my hardware tabs on the terminal to say, 8, 12, 14, 16 and 45. Then, within vi, pressing <TAB> will take me to the next hardware set tabstop. To compound matters, all white space must be filled with *spaces*. There can't be any ^I's between, say 16 and 45. This has been a problem with vi, especially with autoindent -- you *always* get ^I's -- well, what if I don't want to be that efficient!!??? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "I enjoy working with human beings, and John M.
