The claim seems to have gone from "won't run on a system with..." to
"won't run fast enough on such a system to satisfy my (unspecified)
needs".

That's a bait and switch. Your question was answered, if you have a
different question stating performance levels you are seeking you
should probably state *that*. Otherwise this is a very silly game
indeed.
