I have a mail forwarding but no return problem. the general configuration of machines here at wjvax is that there is a central unix host, wjvax, that runs all the uucp and connects to our development systems and systems under costruction by ethernet. those of us in development have escaped wjvax to our machine alpine, a real nice 68020 , 68881, unix ... well its nice. thus, as it zips along, we do most all our work/play on alpine and have our mail forwarded from wjvax. my problem is mostly a pain rather than a terminal illness. as wjvax and alpine converse thru mail with @ protocol I cannot get mail from alpine to uucp and out into the world. ergo, I must go to wjvax to reply to mail I get from uucp hosts. I need to learn the black magic involved with changing alpine's sendmail.cf (and L.sys) so mail of the form wjvax!pyramid!beaver , or even better pyramid!beaver@wjvax, will travel from alpine to wjvax on ethernet and then to pyramid via uucp. best would be that all hosts unknown to alpine get forwarded to wjvax and then sent off . this would let me reply from mail on alpine to forwarded mail from uucp links. -- any suggestions appreciated michael -- ==== *michael j ryan *{..!{hplabs,ucbvax,sun}!pyramid,..!decwrl!qubix}!wjvax!miker *Watkins-Johnson Co., san jose ca. : (408) 435 1400 x3079 * above views are not necessarily those of Watkins-Johnson
