I have a question about Bourne shell script compilers. I'm currently on a project which is writing a lot of fairly large shell scripts, as tools for software development. Our problem is that the scripts are painfully slow. We have neither the time or the manpower to rewrite these scripts as C programs. I've seen two UNIX Bourne shell script compilers advertised in UNIX Review (one from UniPress Software, and one from Comeau Computing). Has anyone had any experiences with these or other shell script compilers? What are their limitations? We're currently running UNIX System V, Rel. 2 on a Vax 11/785. Some of our scripts are a couple of thousand lines long each. [ Direct replies to my net address would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to summarize any mailings and send a follow up letter.] Thanks greatly in advance, dpopeck@nadc
