[comp.unix.wizards] OK, enough swap already

root@qetzal.UUCP (Admin) (12/08/87)

Alright, alright. I've spent the better part of the morning
scraping the cinders off of my ~/mbox. The idea of having
extra ram to implement /dev/swap is a silly one! Sheesh!
It's enough to make me get a crystal and start posting to
talk.religion.newage :-).

So, wizards, why have a /dev/swap at all? Why can't I just add
ten megabytes to the system and eliminate this waste of disk
space? Is /dev/swap an idea whose time has passed?

What happens to my sticky bit programs?
