I lost the original note but I have noticed the slew problem that the poster described. Perusing the sources I decided to set the global 'dosynctodr' to zero (it's a flag and is used in various tests in the clock routines) which has caused that system (server) to stay in lockstep with other systems that haven't been exhibiting any problems (and the phone number you get the time from) while the other servers seem to be wandering quite a bit. Fortunately you can patch it with 'adb -w', might be worth a try until real help arrives. I am running Sun3.4. -Barry Shein, Boston University
