Subject: SUN Local Disks and SCSI Interface We would like to connect Fujitsu's new 389 MByte disk drive to the SCSI port on a SUN 3/60 workstation. We know that this can be done if we use an Emulex controller board to interface the drive to SUN's SCSI interface. However, Fujitsu has a version of this disk drive with a built-in SCSI disk controller, which we would prefer to use. Does anyone have any experience with non-SUN local disks? What kinds of SCSI compatibility problems (if any) have arisen? How difficult was it to generate the appropriate UNIX device drivers? Any assistance would be appreciated!
