[net.news.newsite] cs44 joins the net

prog@cs44.UUCP (System Programmer) (05/23/84)

<look who's here>
Name of site.

	cs44

What the site is all about.

"cs44" is the pdp11/44 at the Department of Computer Science at
the Univeristy of South Carolina. Usceast is our sister machine,
but the user population of cs44 is largely graduate students,
as opposed to faculty. We run Dec v7m unix, with hopes of 2.9bsd
someday. The news environment is being extended to this machine
from usceast on a trial basis. If the disk load gets too big or
if people abuse the privilege, cs44 may go away.

Systems with whom news articles are exchanged.
(what kind of link, who the neighbor(s) are).

	usceast - The department's vax 11/780 running 4.2 bsd
uucp link, 9600 baud. News batched nightly.

Systems with whom mail is exchanged.
(what kind of link, who the neighbor(s) are, what frequency
of connection, whether or not you'll pass outside mail along).

	usceast	- on demand

Willingness (or lack thereof) to connect to new sites that
want to join usenet. If you run uucp, tell if new sites can
call you, if you will poll them, what your policy is.
If on the arpanet, are you willing to forward news on to new
sites by establishing an arpanet usenet connection?

Anything of this sort would be done through usceast,
	not cs44.
