I was asked yesterday whether a dr11-w board on a Vax 750 could do I/O( the words used at me were "bulk data transfers" ) faster with VMS 3.X or UNIX 4.2. I some ideas that lead me to "believe" that UNIX could do it faster, but I don't have the necessary facts to back that up. I believe that with a good device driver implementation UNIX should win, because UNIX drives Vax hardware so myuch harder than VMS, and doesn't have as much system overhead. What do you think? Thanks in advance for responses, Randy Hammon
