[comp.unix.wizards] Should ``csh'' be part of the S

carroll@snail.CS.UIUC.EDU (05/20/88)

We run ksh on all our machines, which include Sun 3/50's, RT's and
3b2's. It works just fine under job control. Of all the people we've had
try to korn shell after the csh, every one has switched permanently. We now
port ksh to whatever sytem we need to use (such as a Sequent we had classes
on for a semester, and we get to port it to a Vax w/4.3 this summer). We all
do lots of shll scripting, so that has a big influence. My personal beef with
csh is the (to me) incredibly stupid way shell variables are handled.
