(I'm posting this for a friend. Please respond to scott@wwu.edu on CS-NET.) I would like any hints or sources of information on configuring and using the MICOM-Interlan NP100 Ethernet Protocol Processor. I am working from a BSD4.3 tape dated 6/7/86. I have found the /np100 directory in the user contributed library. The if_ix.c and np.c files are dated June 5, 1986. The np.image file is dated Feb 10, 1986 and the npcmd.c, npdump.c and npload.c files are dated Feb 20, 1986. Are these the latest files? Which is the driver to use -- np.c or if_ix.c? Section (4) has an ix and an np entry, both of which say "device np0 ..." and then both go on to say to start the device you say "# ifconfig ix0 ..." -- what is going on here? What does it take in the /sys/conf files devices.vax, files.vax, files to make this all work as a protocol processor? Or is it both depending on drivers used and ifconfig's performed? The target machine is a VAX/780. Thank you in advance for any help or direction. -- Scott (scott%wwu.edu@RELAY.CS.NET)
