Although this is not really a UNIX question, I know that many of you will have good answers to this question. Our host, NADC.ARPA, is on MILNET (Internet). Yes, I know that the name is bad, but we will get it fixed one day. Currently, we want to send mail to BITNET hosts using the host CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU as a gateway between Internet and BITNET. But CUNYVM is crowded lately. Are there other "well-known" hosts for the transport of mail between Internet and BITNET? Also, any information on other hosts for other net-to-net mail transports would be helpful. What about CSNET, etc. ? Thank you. Jon Eichelberger eichelbe@NADC.ARPA

We occasionally use WISCVM, PSUVAX, and UCBJADE. What is your geographical location? Since on BITNET, "All road lead to CUNYVM", it helps to leap from the Internet to BITNET as close as possible to the destination. There are a variety of sites (Us, for example) that are on both Internet ( we're on NYSERNet, New York State ) that can gateway.

Don't know about BITNET or CSNET, but you can get to UUNET (nee UUCP) via BRL.ARPA and perhaps RUTGERS.ARPA. A typical address line is given below: <@brl.arpa:addressee@host.UUCP> or <@brl.arpa:addressee@host.UU.NET> All I can say is to keep on trying until you get something that your mailer doesn't gag on.
