I would appreciate any help for automatic forwarding of mail that comes to my bitnet account. The bitnet account that I have is on a profs machine made by a company that makes (or used to make) some of the best typewriters in the world :-). I hate profs (and generally the interface provided by that machine). I use Mac IIs and BSD 4.3 Unix machines for all my work, including mail. Unfortunately, most of my colleagues use profs and are illiterate as far as any decent systems are concerned. (They think that MS-DOS is the best thing that came after sliced bread.) Even though I can send them mail, they cannot send me mail since I don't use profs. Actually they send me mail, but I don't read it. The Office of Computing Services is of no help since the number of people who are competent to deal with any "interesting" problems beyond Fortran and Basic (and possibly CMS or NOS or whatever they use) can be counted with fingers of one hand. I would like to provide them all the help I can so that I may be able to receive mail forwarded automatically from the bitnet machine to our machine. Our machine (three faculty in our Center and many students) is a VAX 11/780 to be replaced by Suns soon. We do have a good systems person who knows what he is doing. However, he does not know how to have the mail forwarded since he does not deal with the bitnet machine. Any help on programs to deal with automatic forwarding will be appreciated. Please e-mail any helpful hints etc. since I am not a regular reader of these newsgroups. Thank you very much. govind (T. Govindaraj, Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering) -- T.
