[comp.unix.wizards] SIGIO strangness

I am using SIGIO with a socket. On occaision I seem to be getting
"phantom" SIGIOs, in which the sig-handler will be called to read the
data, but there's nothing there.

Anyone have any ideas?

SIGIO is also sent upon draining of output from a socket.
