[comp.unix.wizards] How do I find out how many characters are in the tty queue?

tar@ksuvax1.cis.ksu.edu (Tim Ramsey) (11/03/88)

Is there any way that I can find out how many characters are available and
waiting to be read from the tty input queue? I'm running SysV rel 2.1.2.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Tim

Without actually reading those characters? No, not unless your vendor
has added it to S5R2.1.2 (if your vendor is AT&T, the answer is almost
certainly "no").
