[comp.unix.wizards] need explanation of Sun/PCC compiler error

While compiling a program module under Sun OS 3.5 the compiler died
with:

"../c/mcpdata.c", line 3365: compiler error: out of temporary string space

Would someone with source (and understanding) of the Sun compiler tell me
what this error means, and what I can do to make it go away?
