I am trying to make copies of VMS tapes on a UNIX system. We have VAX 11/780s with BSD 4.3 and SUN 2,3,&4s with Sun UNIX 4.2 Release 3.4, Sun UNIX 4.2 Release 3.5, and SunOS Release Sys4-3.2 respectively. Each machine has at most one tape drive. I have tried dd and tcopy with most permutations of their options to no avail. If anybody knows of a solution I would appreciate e-mail. If a solution does appear I will post. Thank you, Gregory Bollella bollella@cs.unc.edu Department of Computer Science CB# 3175 Sitterson Hall University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, NC 27599-3175

I received a PD program from cdl@mplvax.ucsd.edu, copytape, that seems to do the job. If anyone would like a copy I will gladly e-mail. Thanks to all who replied.
