All this discussion of rags has prompted my memory of an NPR broadcast I heard some time ago of an interview with a composer from the east coast, I believe, named Dykstra (spelling?), who uses classic ragtime as a starting point for rags in a more modern and chromatic style. The rags that he played impressed me enough that I've always remembered the name and the broadcast and have kept an eye open for recordings, music, etc., but I've never found any. One piece I remember in particular was titled "The Philosopher," dedicated to his father. If anybody out there has any pointers to recordings, sheet music, or more information, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Steve Knight ihps3!stolaf!knight harpo!stolaf!knight
