gt-fido.
What the site is all about.
Fido is the ICS lab's pet ATT 3B2/300 computer, at the
Georgia Institute of Technology, running UNIX System V Release 2,
Version 1. The first 3B2 on campus, and possibly the world,
to join Usenet, Fido will be joined by others from the same litter
in the near future. Fido has the dubious distinction of being
the first computer to follow the new "gt-" naming convention,
here at Georgia Tech.
Fido is principally dedicated to the enlightenment of net.med.
(There has been some discussion among the lab staff
about off-loading the Vax 11/780 (gatech) by having
news and mail fed through Fido, a machine with untold
amounts of extra capacity. If and when this happens, we
will announce it in an appropriate fashion.)
