I've been told to look into installing shadow password stuff on our system. Trouble is, we have some 3000 user accounts, maybe 120 logged in on a cci 6/32 in the afternoon, and the way this shadow stuff seems to work is that it rebuilds the entire dbm file every time you change a password, let alone add someone to the file. This would bring the system to its knees I'm afraid. Is there any good reason why once can't just to dbm_inserts or whatnot and leave the files in place? I'm talking about the stuff off ucbarpa. -- Internet:dave@uwm.edu, Uucp:uwm!dave, Bitnet:dave%uwm.edu@INTERBIT Bellnet: +1 (414) 229-5133, USnail: CSD, P.O. Box 413, Milwaukee, WI 53201
