Granted, "new" music isn't all that new. The 1-4-5 major chord progression is as popular as ever. I just get obsessed with people who stop listening to new music after a certain point, whether that music is actually new at all. I like yelling and screaming at everyone who sticks with what they liked long ago and nothing else. It's probably because I'm not knowledgable or comfortable about arguing politics and religion, so I argue music. As my pal Need Kavedon said "the more you try out new musical sounds, the more easily it is to accept them, and realize that they aren't that different or terrifying after all, and may even be beautiful." (This was after I complained that some of the music he was making me listen to was "too different" or something.) Richard Moorman
