I am running SCO unix on a PS/2 with a 3COM ethernet board and I have found that the TCP/IP is very slow. FTP transfer file at around 2K/s. Does anybody has that problem and know how to configure the 3COM board or the unix kernel to get better performance ? Thanks, Minh Tran-Le. -------

There is a "known problem" with 3C503's on at least some of the faster 386 boxes, according to SCO. There is supposed to be a new driver that will fix the problem available sometime in May. I don't know that this applies to your PS/2 system, but it may. I get FTP transfer rates into our 386 system of about .2K/s (yes I did mean to say .2K/s) talking to Sun4's. Suprisingly the transfer rates from Sun3's is reasonable (~35K/s). >Does anybody has that problem and know how to configure the 3COM board >or the unix kernel to get better performance ? If it is the same problem we've been having, there apparently isn't anything that can be done other that wait for the new driver. >Thanks, >Minh Tran-Le. >------- -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Jim Levie email: jim@chimera.remtech.com REMTECH Inc Huntsville, Al (or) ...uunet!remtech!chimera!jim The opinions expressed above are just that Ph.
