[comp.unix.wizards] Anyone have an "unexec" for FPS 500EA

jordan@unix.cis.pitt.edu (Kenneth D Jordan) (05/04/91)

I'm trying to get GNU Emacs running on an FPS Model 500EA, and I'm having a
bit of trouble creating a preloaded version with the builtin "unexec".
It doesn't seem to know enough about the exec structure (specifically,
vendor and magic number fields), and the various offsets (text, data, etc.)
are wrong. The system is running BSD 4.3. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

It *is*? Quick, send the changes to Berkeley :-)

4.3BSD runs only on VAXen. Nothing else. There is no computer that
run `4.3BSD' that is not a VAX.

(4.3BSD-tahoe, which is not 4.3BSD, also runs on Tahoes, and there
are other variants, which are also not 4.3BSD, that run on the HP300
and Intel 386.)
