Then again, my Macs aren't connected to a network where anybody can
come in and (ab)use them. They're in my dorm room. It's locked if
I'm not there. I don't know of any businesses which leave valuable
information on PCs which are not in locked offices.
I don't CARE about security on a single-user machine. If I had my
own VAX with VMS, and it wasn't networked, I could disable all the
security and just run with all the privileges all the time. (I
wouldn't, because security helps prevent mistakes too, but I could.)
If you want an OS for a multi-user machine, you need security.

Now that they've got viruses chasing them around, the owners are
learning the concepts of security.

I will be bringing a new UUCP site on-line within the next 60 days.
In preparation, I am trying to learn as much as possible about
information system security. The main emphisis is on the UNIX
and VAX/VMS operating systems.

If you are aware of any mailing lists, publications, texts, or other
sources of information on these subjects, please drop me a note.

In an attempt to conserve bandwidth, as well as other obvious reasons,
please Email me directly.

Thank you for your assistence in this matter.

The latest and greates flames about UNIX security and the right to
know the details were greatly amusing to me. Here we have a system developed
run , debugged , updated etc by HACKS themselves. Face it people we are all
hackers more or less. O.K. some really great hackers now call themselves
wizards and are getting paid for it. By all means keep the flame going if
nothing else it will give us back our lost childhood.
Do not see this posting as a pun against the guild people. I love
what I am doing and I love all you. If I have done any damage, psychological
or otherwise to any of you please forgive me since I seem to be naive.

I say "I stopped thinking therefore I am happy"
next wekk I will something else and then some and I will try to prove
that there is life around my monitor. Alas my monitor is blocking the sun.
