[comp.unix.wizards] Sequential Reliable Datagram Protocol

zheng@white.toronto.edu (Xiaohu Zheng) (06/20/91)

Hi, does anyone have code for some kind of sequenced reliable datagram
protocol, based on IP or UDP? Or some pointers to some (similar) one?

Any response would be appreciated. Please send mail to this account. I
will summarize if there are many same quiries.

Thanks in advance,

Xiaohu, zheng@white.toronto.edu

Since I post the article asking about the SRDP implemenation, I have
received several inquiries about the result. Following are some of the
helpful pointers I got from the net:

1. Kenny Goers pointed out a reliable message service on top of a
datagram service in the book "UNIX Network Programming", by W Richard
Stevens. The souce code from the book is available via anonymous ftp
from hsi.com.

2. Dave Smythe suggests trying VMTP, a message-oriented transport
protocol. VMPT is described in RFC 1045, which is avaiable from
NIC.DDN.MIL.

Many thanks to the netters.
