[comp.sources.wanted] visual200 termcap request

dave@uwmcsd1.UUCP (Dave Rasmussen) (12/03/86)

Does anyone have a set of termcap entries that work for the various
terminals that the visual 200 is said to emulate? I have a situation where
I'm using a program to 'guess' what one logs in on, and if that terminal is
a visual 200 in visual 200 mode, it identifies itself with the code a
zenith z29 or h19 sends out, instead of sending what a vanilla vt52
supposedly sends, and the visual 200 doesn't respond to all the zenith
esc sequences properly.

So I then tried setting the dip switch to make it emulate a adm3a plus, but
apparently it doesn't seem to fully emulate the adm3aplus, or my termcap
entry is corrupt, or both. I guess it supposedly also emulates a haz1500
and a adds 520.

If anyone has working termcaps for a visual200 in any of these modes
I'd really appreciate your mailing them to me.

thx,

I used a Visual 200 a while back and had the same problem. My conclusion
was that it does not emulate any of those terminals properly. the best bet
for me was to use Visual 200 mode and use the following termcap entry.

# The Visual 200 beeps when you type a character in insert mode.
# This is a horribly obnoxious misfeature, and some of the entries
# below try to get around the problem by ignoring the feature or
# turning it off when inputting a character. They are said not to
# work well at 300 baud. (You could always cut the wire to the bell!)
V2|vi200|visual 200 with function keys:\
	:al=\EL:am:bs:cd=\Ey:ce=4*\Ex:cl=\Ev:\
	:cm=\EY%+ %+ :co#80:dc=4*\EO:dl=4*\EM:ho=\EH:\
	:im=:ei=:ic=\Ei \b\Ej:\
	:is=\E3\Eb\Ej\E\\\El\EG\Ed\Ek\Ec:\
	:k0=\EP:k1=\EQ:k2=\ER:k3=\E :k4=\E!:k5=\E":k6=\E#:\
	:k7=\E$:k8=\E%:k9=\E&:kl=\ED:kr=\EC:ku=\EA:kd=\EB:kh=\EH:\

The <esc>c starts smooth scrolling and <esc>d stops it. Or was it the
other way around? One or the other.
