i don't like to have just two states: accepting msgs or not accepting them. so what i would like is for talk to consult a file for a list of people that i am willing to talk to. the reason for this is that i am a sysadmin on an interconnected set of systems that has literally *thousands* of users, and i was getting so many calls from random people all day (and night!) that i just couldn't get anything done, so i stuck a 'mesg n' in my .login; unfortunately, there *are* a few people who have legitimate reasons for talking to me. anyone out there have anything that might be useful? --tom
