Can anyone point me toward software that is used to design boats. Any
information in this area would be appreciated.

I replied to this directly, then it occured to me there might be
somebody else who cares....  The Jan87 SAIL magazine has an article
on this.  It isn't very satisfactory from a computer person's point
of view, but does provide pointers to several companies.  I've assumed
that 'boats' implied recreational type things, not 'ships'.  I also
suspect that contacting any competent naval architect would elicit
a reasonable amount of information if you can get them to talk to you
at all - not always easy, especially if you don't want a boat drawn
(and sometimes even if you do).
