We are looking to acquire a spreadsheet for our VAX-11/750 running 4.3 BSD UNIX at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. We plan to use it for various workload and financial purposes and for some data analysis. Our main (out of the ordinary) requirement is to be able to handle fairly large spreadsheets (up to 150 columns by 500 rows). We are just starting to investigate commercially available software such as 20/20, c-calc, q-calc, and others. I would appreciate it if anyone with experience using any commercial spreadsheet under unix (preferrably BSD unix) could mail me a brief message about their experience with the product. I am particularly interested in information about: How easy was it to install. How easy is it to use. How powerful/flexible/useful is it. Does it have much in the way of bugs. How good is the documentation and any support from the vendor. I would also welcome information from vendors about their products. (Note - I already have plenty of literature about 20/20 and c-calc). Thanks for any help that you can provide. -- David E.
