[comp.sources.wanted] Unix Dial-up Terminal Emulators

leeke@cascade.STANFORD.EDU (Steven D. Leeke) (01/14/87)

I am running Venix 1.0 on a DEC PRO 350 and would like to find a way
to dial up another computer and run as a terminal. I am not a UUCP wizard
and our local UUCP person says UUCP would be a hassle from a private machine
onto campus, also I am mostly interested in being able to login and edit
- hence the need for a VT100 terminal emulator or something of that category.

Does anyone know of any PD software that fits the above description? If so
could you mail me the sources? (Hopefully in C.)

I can always go back to P/OS (ugh) to do communications - but I would prefer
to run Venix if possible.

Many thanks for you help,

Steve Leeke

I have VENIX on an IBM/PC and used kermit to talk to the UNIX host
here. The termcap entry was the one from the /etc/termcap on the
VENIX machine. I just copied it over my other machine.

As far as using UUCP, I also had it working. I personally don't
see why someone won't let you call them. If I had a faculty/staff
member who want to conect in, I would let them.
