[net.cooks] Sour Milk Cake

kathyd (05/14/82)

Don't cry over sour milk; make a chocolate cake out of it.
This cake is from the "Farm Journal's Choice Chocolate Recipes"
cookbook. It is moist and rich and does not need frosting. Mint
chocolate chip ice cream and a slab of this cake makes an outrageous
dessert.

                  Aunt Georgie's Chocolate Cake

1 1/2 C sifted flour 1/4 C butter or margarine, melted
1 C sugar 1 C sour milk
3 tblsp baking cocoa 1/4 C hot water
1 tsp baking soda 1 tblsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg

Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt into mixing bowl.

Add egg, butter, sour milk, hot water and vanilla.

Beat (preferably with electric mixer) at medium speed 2 minutes.

Pour batter into greased 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven 20 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan.

NOTE: To sour sweet milk, place 1 tblsp vinegar in measuring cup. Add
enough milk to make 1 cup.
