The Micro Emacs 3.8b files can be gotten from an archive by sending them mail. Address the mail to decvax!ucbvax!SIMTEL20.ARPA!ARCHIVE-REQUEST and send them a four line message exactly as below. SEND INFO SEND PD:<MSDOS.MICRO-EMACS>EMACSDOC38B.ARC SEND PD:<MSDOS.MICRO-EMACS>EMACSEXE38B.ARC SEND PD:<MSDOS.MICRO-EMACS>EMACSSRC38B.ARC The INFO file gives you some information on how to get other software from them. The other three files will be in uuencoded arc format. To get the original files 1. transfer the files to your PC using an ASCII transfer protocol. 2. Edit the headers and trailers leaving just the uuencoded file. 3. Uudecode the files. 4. Run ARC to unarchive them. This method is simpler for me than trying to uudecode the files under UNIX and then trying to do a binary transfer to your PC.
