Chocolate, The Consuming Passion, by Sandra Boynton. New York, Workman Publishing, 1982. $4.95 and worth every penny. An illustrated, and completely hilarious, discussion of chocolate "written for the Chocolate Elite -- the select millions who like chocolate in all its infinite variety, using 'like' as in 'I like to breathe.'" One recipe will give you the flavor of this book: Hippo Pot de Mousse In the top of a double boiler, melt: 4 ounces semisweet chocolate 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate Let the chocolate cool for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, whip together until very stiff: 1 pint heavy cream, well chilled 1 teaspoon almond extract Gently fold the cooled chocolate inth the whipped cream; there will be many flecks of chocolate in the mixture. Spoon the dessert into 6 large wine glasses. Chill one hour. Serves 1. Enjoy. Martin Minow decvax!minow
