In fact, the weirdness of the language is one of its more appealing features ... it is strange to everyone. And it really does break down the mother duck syndrome (if there is one). Much more important is "how" the cs course is developed. For an experiment, have the book store order a dozen or so copies of SRA's "Little Lisper" and let the kids at it. (XLISP 1.7 and PC-LISP are cheap and widely available.) Let it be an alternative final assignment. ... See what happens. -- Stephen J.
