Hello, I am looking for a source where I may obtain
a86 and c86 running under BSD. I have seen these
programs being mentioned as being part of a PD tape
and I was wondering where this tape is available.
If these programs are available via ftp--even better.
Thanx for any info you may be able to provide.

If, by "a86" and "c86", you mean a cross-compiler and cross-assembler
for the Intel 8086, then here's the word:
They are *NOT* public domain.
C86 is an instantiation (port isn't quite the right word) of the AT&T
Portable C Compiler for the Intel 8086 CPU. The work was done by Chris
Terman, a Professor at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science.
Someone told me Terman is no longer at MIT. I am not sure about the
assembler. (Terman is the man who did the 68000 compiler that made it
possible for Sun and Unisoft to hit the ground running.)
I have a copy of the Compiler/Assembler/C Library distribution. If you
are interested in getting a copy, send me electronic mail. I will need
to see a copy of your AT&T Source License, so if you don't have one of
those, you're out of luck.
