I am looking for a Calendar / Appointment system to run on a System V Unix system. Most of my users do not have unix experience, they run all applications from a menu system, therefore this has to be simple, or at least clear to use with meaningful prompts. It will be used for personal calendars as well a Divisional calendar. We maintain a common calendar for all events that pertain to our Division activities. Users would like to have the following features: * Allow the calendar owner to authorize read or read/write access by user and/or group. * Display initally a month at a glance calendar (or some reasonable portion of a month) that actually shows some information in addtion to the fact that there are entries for a particular day. * Select a display of hot items, as declared by the calendar owner. * To keep a user from constantly reviewing a calendar for added, deleted, or changed entries, the system should be able to: * Display the date and time the calendar was last updated. * Display the date and time the current user last viewed the calendar. * Display all added, deleted, or changed entries since the current user last accessed the calendar. * Scan for all changes since a date specified by the current user. * Allow multiple line entries. Possibly allow a short and long entry. The short entry could be displayed as a default, and the long entry optionally available. Long entries should not limited to some finite number of characters, lines, etc. * Allow users to edit entries (both short and long), rather than removing and retyping entries. * Allow entries to be associated with a particular date but not necessarily a time. * Provide keyword or string searchs with the ability to restrict the searchs in any way ie. years, months, days, dates, times, ... * Provide hardcopy output of all displays, results of searchs, changes, etc. We have a home grown calendar system that satisfies the requirement for a calendar, but does not have the features listed above except for owner control of read or read/write access by user to a calendar. I have looked at Month, and it doesn't have all the features my users are looking for. I would appreciate any suggestions. Sharware, freeware, licensed, or purchased solutions are welcome. Thanks.
