[comp.sources.wanted] Looking for a METAFONT

winton@btnix.UUCP (05/21/87)

(I don't believe in line-ea...)

Hello. I'm looking for a METAFONT description of a pseudo-Helvetica font.
(No, the CMSS family won't do, they don't have the same feel at all). Does
anyone have sources that they would be willing to share? I realise that
`Helvetica' itself is a name owned by Haas (I believe) and I'm sure that
a Helvetica for use with TeX is probably commercially available but I would
like to obtain a METAFONT description both from the point of view that we
use Helvetica a lot and I also that I would like to `tweak' things a little.
I have started work on a METAFONT description myself, but I'm not sure I have
either the time or the skill to produce an acceptable result (and I take
Donald Knuth's admonition not to produce a quick-and-dirty, second-rate
font to heart!).

	Thanks,
		Neil
