I am posting this for Cindy Graff of the University of Minnesota Hospitals. Cindy is currently looking for an office automation package that contains an integrated spreadsheet, word processing, calendar scheduling, graphing, mail delivery, database and windowing software. The windowing software is the prime consideration. It is imperative that the users be able to switch between applications quickly and easily. In addition, it is desirable to be able to share data between the spreadsheet word processing, data base and graphing applications. It is therefore desirable to have the entire package integrated. However, if all of the functions are not available in an integrated package, those functions not available may be able to be used outside of the package, or be able to be integrated by and outside consultant. A brief outline of capabilities for each of the functions follows: Spreadsheet 1000x1000 cells or larger Word Processing Dictionary (Basic and customizable) Multiple fonts Indexing of documents Multiple Columns of Text Redo and Undo Backup and Recovery WYSIWYG merging of data (i.e. spreadsheet data into docoument search and replace Calendar 24 hour appointments daily, weekly and yearly calendars minimum of one year planning ability to repeat appointments (daily weekly or monthly) cross reference of people who are scheduled for the same meeting Identify scheduling conflicts ability to prioritze meetings ability to delete meetings from other peoples schedules ability to define appointment intervals Mail One or multiple recipients Receipt Confirmation Windows Primary consideration Have to be able to switch applications readily Database Will look at whatever database is available Graphics Ability for pie, line, bar and scatter graphs Ability to include text and drawings into graphs Template option would be useful Cost Constraints: <open> Target Hardware : Unisys XE 550 Target Software : Unix System V.2 Terminals : Unisys PT1500 and Burroughs B25 If you know of such a package, or have one, please call Cindy Graff at the University of Minnesota Hospitals, (612) 624 4636, from 8am to 5pm Central Daylight Time.
