Just in case there are people reading this who live somewhere where it stops raining long enough to barbecue, I thought I'd pass this along. I got this off the radio (!) several years ago and have been using it ever since, with great success. Buy the cheapest chuck steaks you can find, and marinate in a mixture of soy sauce and bourbon. Marinate for at least several hours; preferably overnight. You say you want to know the proportions? Lots of bourbon, some soy sauce. At a guess I'd say 5 to 1, but don't quote me. Warning: don't try tasting this mixture to see if it seems right--I did this the first time and it's the most vile-tasting stuff around. In general, as long as you don't go hog-wild on the soy sauce, you can't go wrong. You just marinate and then barbecue--the steaks come out as tender and tasty as the most expensive cuts of meat. Try it, it really works. In order to make this truly economical, as well, what I do is re-use the marinade. After I put the steaks on the grill I just strain the liquid thru cheesecloth and store in the fridge. Then the next time, I add only as much bourbon/soy sauce as needed. Enjoy! Billie Goldstein
