[comp.sources.wanted] Wanted: WY-99GT Termcap entry

salzman@rdlvax.RDL.COM (Gumby) (09/16/87)

Since there's been some discussion about this terminal in comp.terminals
lately it seems like a good time to post this.

We just got some 99GT's. So far I'm pretty impressed, though there are
some things I'm not totally thrilled about. What I would like is a
termcap entry for wy99gt so I can use it in wy99gt "personality" instead
of vt100. For some reason, in vt100 mode it doesn't have any way of
getting in to tek4014 mode or in to wy99gt mode. So, if anyone has
a good termcap for it's native mode, or can tell me how to go from
vt100 to 4014 and back via an escape sequence, I'd really appreciate
it. I will be making changes to GNU Plot to support this thing one
way or other....

Someonw said it's slow and has problems with Emacs. I have no problems
with it at all. It keeps up as well if not better than anything else I've
used with Emacs and Jove. It's "WyseWorks" feature is pretty nice. You
always have the time on the top status line and the alarm feature is
kinda handy. I don't see why it couldn't to GEM or any other PC graphics.
If someone was referring to it being slow in 4014 mode, well, who makes
anything that's fast in 4014 mode. Who would even think of using Emacs
in 4014 mode anyway?!

Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with a termcap
entry (it's not that I couldn't write one, but why re-invent the wheel :-).
